In 2005 while on maternity leave, Shawna Renee, noticing a void in Talk Radio programming, created Cocoa Mode, a weekly program designed to meet the needs of African American women looking for a place to discuss the issues that matter most in their community. The mission of Cocoa Mode is to celebrate positive images of African American women in arts and entertainment while honoring sisterhood among women of all ages, races and social-economic status. |
Cocoa Mode encourages an open dialogue among men and women of color to foster an understanding and appreciation of relationships and family values as well as promote healthy physical, mental and emotional lifestyle choices. Above all Cocoa Mode works to empower women to take an active role in transforming the social, political and financial conditions in our communities.
